Roslyn Saturday Night

After a hard days work exploring the area, I decided to check out Roslyn's night life. Which basically consists of one bar, the Brick, on the corner of the main drag in downtown. A few remarkable things occurred shortly after I walked through the door...first, I got a seat, at the bar, immediately, followed by the fastest bar service I may have ever experienced by the two long time bartenders Chase and Murph, I strayed from my usual liquors of choice and went for a beer (when in Rome...) which was (sit down for this) $3 and sat back to watch the local acts unfold. An array of bikers came and went which made for some great eavesdropping and scenery, one of the locals turns 40 today and was getting a head start on the celebrating and of course the entire bar was involved and I'd be amazed if the poor man could walk a straight line even today with all the free birthday beers being passed his way. Then the local act came on, Strayed, they played some great classic rock and a few new tracks, and next thing I knew the place was packed. Turns out the Brick is such a hot spot even the staff can't stay away on their nights off, tonight's bartender was there last night enjoying her rare Saturday night off, and I'm now obligated to return tonight to witness her work her magic behind the bar. Obligated I tell you. Much to my surprise, the drink of choice for most of Roslyns female population, a Cosmo. Go figure. Once I discovered this I said to hell with "when in Rome" and went straight for Jameson which was generously poured out again and again by my new best bartender friend Chase, who as it turns out is Irish, hence the pouring skill. My last conversation of the night was with a 2 year resident, who after finding out I was in town on vacation proudly proclaimed that he'd stopped on his way through town two years ago for a beer and had never left. I could see how that could happen...good thing I don't drink beer...

Spent today in Leavenworth and Cashmere, touring the orchards and the little Bavarian village, more on that later...oh and am now sitting in what I can only describe as a coffee lovers gold mine, the Pioneer Coffee Company shop in Cle Elum, where you can stroll in and have them grind up some of the best beans you've ever had. Don't worry, I'm bringing some, a lot, a trunk full, home :-)
