Leaving Town

Has proven very difficult.

My plan (stress, plan) had been to take off early Wednesday morning and make a very quick trip to Wyoming to visit the fam before heading back to Cali. So Tuesday I got up and made my way to the river to say goodbye to my favorite swimming hole
After jumping off the ledge into the glacier fed, crystal clear, magical water (and then pulling some crazy moves to climb back up, bikini clad and shivering), this is where I lay, like a lizard until I'm hot enough to brave the water again.

After a few hours of lizard behavior, I got the urge to go see my friend Helen Hauff over the pass near Cashmere, so jumped back in the car and hit the road, got some peaches and some love and promises that I'd return and drive safe, came back into town made dinner for my self appointed tour guide (did you really think I could go three weeks without cooking for someone? Please...) and then spent the rest of the night laying in the yard out under the stars. Magic I tell you. Saw dozens of shooting stars. Woke up Wednesday morning, car all packed, stopped into town to say goodbye, got back in the car and made it about, oh five miles down the road before I said to hell with Wyoming and turned back around. Called up the cabin owner who was more than happy to let me stay for a couple more nights.

Don't worry, someone else is moving in tonight so I'm already out again. Staying with friends tonight and hitting the road in the morning. It will take some willpower to STAY headed South but I'll manage.

Anyway, drove over to Mt. Rainier yesterday and then into Seattle for a bit just to check out the city (which by the way is probably the most beautiful city I've seen yet, absolutely stunning).

Rainier is epic, driving along under the canopy of pines with the morning light filtering through, catching a glimpse of the mountains through the branches every few moments until finally clearing the forest and nearly wrecking the car in awe of the mountains before me. It's a good thing I hadn't packed a tent, I'd still be up there, dumbstruck by the beauty of it all.

And here, (because someone pointed out my absence in previous photos...) is a picture with me in it ;-)

And yes, I am wearing a coat (a wool one to be exact) and shorts...surprisingly enough I fit right in with that wardrobe.

This is going to be my last post until I get back, unless I find something spectacular on the drive back, can't believe how fast time has gone up here, feels like I just arrived. If anyone has any special requests, give a shout. See you soon. xoxo
